The Conference

About Print UV

The most concentrated gathering of leaders advancing UV, LED UV, special effects, high-value print—and now practical AI—for the next era of the printing industry.

What Print UV Is

An intimate, peer-oriented conference

Print UV is a peer-oriented, intimate conference built for people who make decisions about UV and LED UV printing—and who want to grow the profitable, high-value side of their business. For nearly two decades, it has brought owners, executives, production leaders and technical experts into one room to compare notes, see what’s next and go home with ideas they can put to work. The audience spans commercial print, packaging and label converting—on offset, flexo and digital—wherever UV curing, special effects and high-value work are advancing the press, with practical AI now woven through the same conversations.

Print UV 2027 takes place April 19–21, 2027 at Encore at Wynn Las Vegas. Monday is arrival and sponsor setup, closing with a conference-wide evening welcome reception. Tuesday and Wednesday are full content days, combining general sessions, sponsor exhibits, shared meals and the kind of unhurried peer conversation that big trade shows can’t offer.

Heritage

Continuous since 2008 — designed differently on purpose

Print UV has run continuously since 2008, aside from the pandemic years when the industry paused with everyone else. Hans Ulland and Steve Metcalf founded the conference to advance the conversation — and broaden access — around UV and LED UV innovations that had once been the realm of only the highest-end packaging companies. Through their work and the community that grew around Print UV, that technology moved into commercial print and beyond.

Hans Ulland, Print UV’s Emeritus Founder, passed away in late 2024. His spirit and the involvement of his family continue in the conference series, and the Ullee Award — unveiled in his honor at Print UV 2025 — will be awarded again at Print UV 2027. Read the tribute to Hans Ulland.

The Cadence

A biennial event, by design

Print UV now runs on a two-year cycle. The biennial format keeps the program dense with what has genuinely changed—new curing systems, new inks and coatings, new special-effects techniques, new business practices—rather than repeating last year’s material. It also concentrates the audience: when the industry’s UV and high-value print leaders gather only once every two years, everyone who matters makes a point of being there.

The 2027 Program

Built on a UV foundation, expanded for what's next

Print UV earned its reputation as the definitive event for the UV and LED UV printing process—curing systems, inks, coatings, substrates, extended gamut and the production discipline that makes them pay. That foundation doesn't change. For 2027, the program is organized around three connected pillars.

01

UV + LED UV Innovation

Curing systems, inks, coatings and substrates. Extended gamut, food-safe packaging, sustainability and productivity—the technical core Print UV is known for, advanced by the people doing the work.

02

High-Value Print + Special Effects

Embellishment, tactile effects, foil and premium packaging. The creative applications that command attention—and the profitable differentiation that makes them worth running.

03

Applied AI for Print

Leadership, sales, estimating, creative work, automation and production workflows. Practical AI for the work printers do every day—adoption grounded in proof, not promises.

AI is not a separate side event at Print UV. It is woven through the agenda and brought directly into the business and production conversations attendees already value.

Steve Metcalf, Print UV co-founder and a widely recognized print-industry AI keynote speaker and workshop leader, will lead a special hands-on learning experience designed to help printers accelerate their AI journeys using the latest practical tools and techniques. His guidance will also be woven throughout the conference as Print UV brings an AI lens to the industry's most important business, creative and production conversations.

The Room

Who attends

The Print UV format is geared toward owners, executives, managers and leaders in commercial print, packaging and label converting who are making decisions about the UV process—and the future—of their organizations.

  • Owners and executives of printing, packaging and label-converting companies (UV business strategy and practical AI adoption)
  • Directors and managers in sales, pre-press and production (UV process, quality management and workflow)
  • Pressroom leaders, UV practitioners and process engineers (UV technical strategy)
  • Print buyers, brand owners and creative agencies (UV sourcing strategies and the newest substrates, inks, coatings and special effects)

Experts from the critical suppliers in the UV technology industry—major press manufacturers, UV equipment suppliers, ink and coating suppliers and consumable suppliers—are on hand throughout the event to answer questions one-on-one and in presentations and panel discussions.

Three Days, Two Rooms

An event that respects your time

With an emphasis on peer networking, business topics and technical strategy, Print UV compresses an unusual amount of learning and relationship-building into three days at one of the finest resorts in Las Vegas. Sponsor engagement is embedded in meals, breaks and receptions rather than isolated on a trade-show floor, so every conversation counts.
