Gloss, texture and touch
Spot UV coatings put high-gloss emphasis exactly where the design wants it. Raised and textured UV builds tactile surfaces—grit, softness, embossed detail—that make a printed piece something people hold onto.

UV Education
UV and LED UV printing cure ink the instant it hits the sheet — sharper detail, brighter color, faster turnaround and a whole vocabulary of high-value effects. Start here, whether you run presses or buy print.
The Process
Conventional offset inks dry slowly, by absorption and evaporation. UV inks and coatings are different: they are formulated to cure instantlywhen exposed to ultraviolet light. The sheet leaves the press dry, so ink sits on the surface of the substrate instead of soaking in—which means sharper dots, denser color and clean printing on plastics, foils, metallics and other non-porous materials that conventional inks can’t handle.
LED UVreplaces traditional mercury-vapor curing lamps with light-emitting diodes. LED lamps switch on and off instantly, run cooler, draw less energy and last far longer—bringing the benefits of UV curing to a wider range of presses and shops, with heat-sensitive substrates in play and sustainability numbers that keep improving.
For printers, the payoff is practical: no spray powder, no waiting for racks to dry, immediate backup and finishing, faster turnarounds and fewer touch points for quality problems. For print buyers, it means vivid, consistent work delivered on schedule.
Design for UV
UV is more than fast curing — it is the foundation of the special-effects toolbox that makes premium print command attention (and better margins).
Spot UV coatings put high-gloss emphasis exactly where the design wants it. Raised and textured UV builds tactile surfaces—grit, softness, embossed detail—that make a printed piece something people hold onto.
Cold foil, cast-and-cure holographics and layered UV embellishment create metallic, prismatic and dimensional finishes in-line on the press—premium looks without premium lead times.
Because UV ink cures on the surface, extended-gamut and high-density ink sets reproduce brand colors and photography with a vibrancy conventional printing struggles to match.
Designers who understand the UV toolbox specify work differently: they design for the effect rather than adding it at the end. If that is your world, the special-effects and high-value-print sessions at Print UV are built for exactly these conversations.
Find a Printer
Not every print provider runs UV, and not every UV shop runs the same effects. The printers, converters and suppliers who gather at Print UV represent much of the highest-quality UV and LED UV capacity in North America and beyond—companies investing in curing systems, inks, coatings and embellishment because high-value print is their business.
If you are a print buyer, brand owner or agency looking for a printer who can deliver UV work—or a printer looking for the suppliers behind these technologies—we are glad to point you in the right direction. Contact Print UV
